Imam Suharto, program director of VECO Indonesia has co-authored an article in the Global Environmental Change Journal on climate change adaptation. The paper is written by a collaborative team lead by CSIRO (The Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation), Australia's national science agency. The collaborative team consists of CSIRO, UNRAM University (University of Mataram), NTB Province Government (West Nusa Tenggara) and VECO Indonesia.

In developing countries adaptation responses to climate and global change should be integrated with human development to generate strategies for the rural poor to benefit from these responses. But there are few examples of how to achieve this. The 'adaptation pathways approach' as described in the article, provides a potentially useful decision-making framework to reach climate change adaptation strategies beneficial for the rural poor given it aims to steer societies towards sustainable futures.
